I live a long way
from Boston, so I can't attend meetings. Is there some way I can become
involved in the organization?
We intend to
improve options for virtual participation. Currently, our special interest
groups use e-groups that allow involvement at a distance.
What is the dress at
meetings?
The dress tends to
be on the casual side for a business meeting. You’ll feel comfortable
dressed either casually, business casual, or in a suit.
Is the Learning Group
affiliated with any other organization?
The Learning Group
is affiliated with the national Organizational
Development Network. We also work jointly with other local
organizations for special purposes.
I work in training.
Would I find the OD Learning Group of value?
Quite likely.
People who are in a number of related fields such as training, human
resources, industrial psychology, psychology, and so on, find the
organization development of relevance and the people they meet at ODLG
meetings to provide useful connections.
What is the purpose
of the OD Learning Group?
The Learning Group
strives to create a safe and supportive environment where members can learn and discuss topics in Organizational Development.
We hope to meet
the personal and professional needs of our members by providing a forum for
exchanging ideas, developing OD skills, testing current skills, sharing collective experiences,
and networking. See the OD Learning Group Mission
Statement.
What kind of
meetings does the OD Learning Group put on?
We present regular
program meetings each month that serve to present new ideas in the field of
OD via experiential learning. These meetings are generally conducted by
teams of Learning Group members. The atmosphere is friendly, warm, open,
fun and informal. Everybody is there to learn while having a good time.
From time to time,
we offer bonus programs. These may be more experimental or in the
presentation vein. Additionally, we sometimes co-sponsor meetings with
organizations in related fields.
Each of our
special interest groups holds meetings from time to time. Moreover, our operational teams may hold
meetings open to the membership.
Who runs the OD
Learning Group?
The Learning Group
is a self-managing organization. Various functional teams are responsible
for different areas, and are connected by a Coordinating Committee.
